Tattoo Aftercare

Initial Bandage Removal

Remove the bandage after 1 hour, unless otherwise instructed by your artist.
Gently wash the area with warm water and unscented antibacterial soap using clean hands.
Gently blot tattoo with a dry paper towel when drying.
Do not re-bandage. Allow the tattoo to breathe.

Cleaning & Moisturizing (Days 1–3)

Wash the tattoo 3 times daily with warm water and unscented soap.
After each wash, gently pat dry and apply a thin layer of fragrance-free healing ointment (e.g., Aquaphor or a tattoo-specific product).
Avoid over-applying product—your skin should feel moisturized, not smothered.

Continued Moisturizing (Day 4 and onward)

Once initial scabbing/flaking begins (usually around day 3–4), switch to a fragrance-free lotion such as Lubriderm, Eucerin, or an unscented hand cream.
Continue applying lotion 2–3 times daily until fully healed.

What to Avoid During Healing (Minimum 2 Weeks)

No direct sunlight, tanning beds, pools, saunas, hot tubs, or long baths. Showers are fine.
Do not scratch, rub, or pick at your tattoo, even if it itches—this can cause scarring or color loss.
Wear clean, loose-fitting clothing over the area when possible.

Long-Term Tattoo Care

Sun exposure will fade your tattoo over time. Once healed, apply SPF 50+ sunscreen regularly to maintain its appearance.

When to Seek Medical Attention

While mild redness and flaking are normal, contact a doctor if you experience:
Excessive redness or swelling around the tattoo
Green or yellow discharge with foul odor
Fever, chills, or flu-like symptoms
